Sailing into the Future

Sailing into the Future. Together: an extraordinary adventure comes to an end, but the journey continues

The sporting adventure that united IBSA and Alberto Bona across the world’s seas is coming to an end after three years of extraordinary emotions and challenges. The project Sailing into the Future. Together concludes a journey that represented much more than a sporting endeavour: it was a human journey, a meeting between shared values and a vision of innovation and sustainability.

With over 25,000 miles sailed in the course of international competitions, ten regattas, five podiums and as many ocean crossings, this enterprise led IBSA to traverse oceans and seas, touching the shores of France, England, Ireland, the Caribbean, the United States and Canada, in the most prestigious circuits of world sailing.

We experienced three intense years, during which we took the IBSA brand around the world; a sporting project that allowed ingenuity, courage, perseverance and passion to fully manifest”, announced Arturo Licenziati, President and CEO of IBSA. It’s been an extraordinary and highly formative journey, capable of narrating and promoting our values alongside Alberto Bona and his team, led by Luca Bertacchi. Thanks to the extraordinary skills of our skipper, we were able to transform a sporting challenge into a symbol of innovation, sustainability and mutual growth”.

The IBSA team supported Alberto on this journey with great dedication, demonstrating an enthusiasm that went beyond the sporting realm, in an adventure that inspired and united. Indeed, over these years the project has become an integral part of our company culture, testifying to the strength of a collaboration that transcended the boundaries of competition.

IBSA AND INCLUSIVE SAILING: A FUTURE-ORIENTED LEGACY

Sailing into the Future. Together also represented an extraordinary opportunity to promote inclusive sailing in various countries (Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain and the United States). The project has in fact laid the foundations for an initiative that will continue in the years to come, offering people with disabilities the opportunity to experience the sea.

Alberto Bona showed us how sailing can be a way to discover oneself, test one’s skills and find inner strength to face any challenge”, stated Giorgio Pisani, Vice President of IBSA Group and Project Leader. “We will apply these principles to the world of inclusive sailing, so that this discipline can give everyone the chance to believe in their abilities, discover their talents and overcome obstacles. Indeed, inclusive sailing initiatives have the great merit of enriching the entire community by promoting a culture of acceptance and respect. This will be our focus in the coming sporting seasons”.

Alberto’s energy, tenacity and passion have been an example for everyone, a model that will continue to inspire IBSA in its future challenges. A challenging but also very rewarding experience in his own words: “It has been a very demanding three years: all the people involved in the challenge, with great courage, had to do their best and go beyond their limits to achieve their objectives”.

Thus, the sporting adventure chapter comes to an end, but our commitment to inclusive sailing continues: a journey towards new horizons, carrying forward the foundational values of the project.
