Michael Scully, Head of US Commercial Operations, seized the opportunity to work at IBSA USA because he wanted to help shape a dynamic, growing company – and so far, he has not been disappointed. Michael leads the IBSA USA Commercial Team, which includes the salesforce, sales operations/analytics, market access/trade, and marketing; he feels inspired every day by the energy and drive of the people around him.  Or, as he put it, “it’s the people who make this business.”  

The people Michael refers to include a diverse team that isn’t afraid to bring their individuality – or their individual talents – to work.  Indeed, Michael strives to create a work environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing feedback and giving suggestions based on their personal insights. He finds that this feedback, offered in a spirit of trust and openness, helps drive innovations and decisions made by his team. Not surprisingly, Michael emphasizes the company’s core pillars of Person and Innovation in his leadership, and firmly believes that the most powerful aspect of IBSA USA’s culture is its spirit of collaboration.  

In addition to keeping his diverse commercial team driven and goal-oriented, Michael also cares deeply about their professional development. He supports their future success by providing them with experiences that will drive career growth, including advancement within the company. Over the next five to ten years, as IBSA USA enters new therapeutic markets, Michael plans to work with the cross-functional teams across the organization to build business units to support these new products and to encourage our IBSA team members to develop the necessary skills now for those who wish to transition into these new areas.

Michael finds inspiration not only in his team but also in one of IBSA USA’s core priorities: its patients. As Head of US Commercial Operations, he is deeply motivated by the continual feedback he receives about the transformative impact of IBSA’s products on patient lives. This invaluable insight drives him to do all he can to fuel the company’s success and growth, and to support its efforts to innovate on behalf of patient health. 

Michael’s unwavering belief in IBSA’s commitment to its patients fuels his ambition to position IBSA USA as a Center of Excellence and as one of the leaders for the IBSA Global Businesses.  For him, working at IBSA has been the most rewarding experience of his career.

With over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Michael leverages his extensive expertise to inspire and empower his team, driving the success of IBSA USA’s business. He combines a strong educational foundation, including an MBA in Marketing and Analytics from the University of Connecticut and a BA in American Studies from St. Michael’s College, with a deep appreciation for teamwork. Above all, he credits his accomplished team and their shared commitment to excellence, encapsulated in their motto: “Making Ourselves 1% Better Every Day”.
